Take on the role of a little flame, fighting a shapeshifting shade adapting to your every move. Change your strategy mid fight to circumvent its adaptations and claim victory over the shadows!

In game, your enemy will adapt to your style of gameplay and switch its moves based on what beats your prefered attacks. You use a lot of meelee attacks? In the next phase it will use moves that are more dangerous in melee range. You dash a lot? In the next phase it might use goop that prevents dashing or attacks which always hit and must be blocked. Switch your strategy mid fight to beat its tricks and claim victory!

This prototype is the practical part of a Master Thesis conducted over the course of four months at the IT University of Copenhagen in 2025. It aimed to explore the potential of a combat centric game where the enemy adapts to individual player behaviour, and the player is thus incentivized to change their behaviour in response to the change mid fight, thus leading to more dynamic gameplay.
